Motherhood?

Two months postpartum and I was back on set directing.

Pumping between setups.

Moving fast. Making decisions. Leading a crew.

A few years earlier, I didn’t think this version of my life was possible.

Twelve-plus hour days, unpredictable schedules, it felt incompatible.

So I set a plan. I told myself I would get to a position where I had real responsibility and perspective before making that decision.

For me, that meant becoming an EP and running a show.

And that’s when I had my first child.

It changed how I worked. I stepped away for 10 months, and when I returned, I made a strategic decision to take a lower-level role that gave me something I needed at the time… Flexibility.

Not a step back, a recalibration.

What I realized is that leadership isn’t about waiting for perfect conditions. It’s about making clear decisions, aligning your priorities, and executing anyway.

And in many ways, becoming a parent sharpened that.

It made me more decisive. More efficient.

More grounded in what actually matters on set and in the room.

The demands didn’t get smaller, but my clarity got stronger.

How has your leadership evolved as your life has expanded?
