different genres. different audiences.
Sometimes people ask what kind of projects I direct.
The answer is… A lot of different ones.
I started in late night producing on shows like “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore” and “The Rundown with Robin Thede”.
When Larry Wilmore launched “Wilmore”, I got my first chance to step into directing.
From there I directed “A Black Lady Sketch Show”, which is basically a master class in comedy timing.
Then I found my way into kids television.
I’ve now directed multiple seasons of “Sesame Street”, including a music segment with HAIM singing the ABC song.
Somewhere along the way I was lucky enough to win two Children’s Emmys for directing “Sesame Street”.
I’ve also directed projects like:
-“Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show”
-“Helpsters”
-“Tamir on the Street”
-“All I Didn’t Want for Christmas”, starring Gabourey Sidibe, Kel Mitchell and Loretta Devine.
Different genres. Different audiences.
But the job is always the same:
Support the actors.
Align the crew.
Tell the story clearly.
Grateful for every set that got me here, it and excited for the next one.
